NIMBUS
is a John Alden designed sloop built by the James Graves shipyard of
Marblehead, Massachusetts in 1938. Design number 675, The Coastwise
Cruiser, is 37' long with a 10' beam and draws 5'3" The hull is
mahogany planked on oak frames. The deck is teak and the spars are
spruce. Below decks accommodations are painted white with mahogany
bright work. A private yacht sailing the waters of coastal Maine since
1940 she has been cared for and well loved.
TROY SCOTT is the
owner and captain of
Nimbus. He brought Nimbus to South Freeport in 2009 to start Sail
Freeport. Troy has been sailing
professionally since 1989, and has been a U.S. Coast Guard licensed
captain since 1995. He has enjoyed a variety
of work on the water including sail
training, sailing charters and tours, diving, residential treatment for
youth aboard tall ships, research, salvage, yacht deliveries, racing,
and sport fishing. He has sailed in the Pacific, Atlantic, the
Caribbean and has lived in Maine since 1999.
